Scholasticism: the expression refers to a medieval, theological and philosophical epoch, which refers to Aristotle and practiced a methodical way of thinking of comparing premises and counterclaims. In the narrower sense, the term refers to the method developed by scholasticists. See also dialectics, rationalism.
