Cosmological Principle - Philosophy Dictionary of Arguments

Cosmological principle: The cosmological principle is the assumption that the universe is homogeneous and isotropic on large enough scales. This means that the average density of matter and energy is the same everywhere, and the universe looks the same in all directions. This allows cosmologists to make inferences about the universe as a whole based on their observations from Earth.
