Ian Hacking (1936-2023), Canadian philosopher of science and historian of science. His major works include The Logic of Statistical Inference (1965), The Emergence of Probability: A Philosophical Study of Early Ideas about Probability, Induction and Statistical Inference (1975), and Representing and Intervening: Introductory Topics in the Philosophy of Natural Science (1983). His fields of specialization were philosophy of science, history of science, and social studies of science.
