William James (1842-1910), American philosopher and psychologist. His major works include The Principles of Psychology (1890), The Varieties of Religious Experience (1902), and Pragmatism: A New Name for Some Old Ways of Thinking (1907). His fields of specialization were philosophy of mind, psychology, and religion.
