Definition Reism/Brentano: Brentano's reistic ontology (late work) traces the being back to the "thing", the "res". Then abstractions, universals, negations, facts, forms, and fictions are not "things" in the strict sense.
Already for Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus "res" is a transcendental concept, which is convertible with the being (ens).
