Hannah Arendt on Labour - Dictionary of Arguments
Brocker I 359
Labour/Arendt: Question: How could it come that labour was classified as higher-quality than public speaking, that production took the place of action? While in antiquity labour was despised, in modern times it was declared the basis of life for all and, even more so, the basis of a meaningful life.
ArendtVsMarx: Labour "does" nothing. Labour has no relation to the world outside the labour cycle.
