Cognition/Evolution/Mayr: for us neither the knowledge of the subatomic world nor that of the galactic processes is vital.
But how can we have ideas of such vital universal properties like time and space, if we cannot directly perceive them?
Kant: is in this respect essentialist: the brain is structured in a way that one is already born with information about these properties of the universe.
