Understanding sociology: "Verstehende Soziologie" (German) is a scientific-theoretical concept for sociology that was developed by Max Weber at the beginning of the 20th century. According to this, the aim of sociology is to understand human action in an explanatory way, i.e. to understand the context in which an action takes place. See also sociology, understanding, M.
