Tidal Force - Philosophy Dictionary of Arguments

Tidal force: In cosmology, the tidal force is the force that stretches or compresses objects due to the gravitational gradient. It occurs when the gravitational pull on one side of an object differs significantly from the gravitational pull on the other side, resulting in a stretching effect on extended objects such as galaxies or disrupting the structure of celestial bodies such as stars or planets.
