John Turner - Philosophy Dictionary of Arguments | |||
John Turner (1947-2011), British social psychologist and Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Bristol. His major works include Social Identity Theory: Psychological Studies in the Nature of Intergroup Relations (1981), Self-Categorization Theory: Social Psychology of the Individual Mind (1985, co-authored with Henri Tajfel), and Rediscovering the Social Group: A Self-Categorization Theory of Social Cognition (1994). His fields of specialization were social identity theory, social psychology, intergroup relations, discrimination, prejudice and self-categorization theory.
