Memes: Richard Dawkins coined the term "meme" in his 1976 book "The Selfish Gene" to describe units of cultural information that are passed from one person to another. He argued that memes play an important role in human evolution, as they allow us to learn from each other and share knowledge and skills. See also Evolution, Genes, Selection, Culture, R.
