Max Horkheimer: Max Horkheimer (1895 – 1972) was a German philosopher and sociologist. He was a founding member of the Frankfurt School, a group of scholars who developed a critical theory of society. Horkheimer's major works include Eclipse of Reason (1947), Dialectic of Enlightenment (1947, co-written with Theodor Adorno), Critical Theory Selected Essays (1972). See also Critical theory, Th. W.
