Joseph Weizenbaum (1923-2008), German-American computer scientist and professor at MIT. His major works include Computer Power and Human Reason: From Judgment To Calculation (1976), ELIZA - A Computer Program for the Study of Natural Language Communication between Man and Machine (1966), and On the Impact of the Computer Revolution (1972). His fields of specialization were artificial intelligence, computer science, and the social impact of technology.
