Imre Lakatos (1922-1974), Hungarian philosopher of mathematics and science. His major works include Proofs and Refutations (1976), The Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes (1978), and Mathematics, Science and Epistemology (1978). His fields of specialization were philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of science, and methodology.
