Saul A. Kripke (1940-2022), American analytic philosopher and logician. His major works include Naming and Necessity (1980), Wittgenstein on Rules and Private Language (1982), and Philosophical Troubles: Collected Papers, Volume 1 (1984). His fields of specialization were modal logic, philosophy of language, metaphysics, and epistemology.
