Nancy Cartwright (1944), American philosopher of science. Her major works include Nature's Capacities and Their Measurement (1989), The Dappled World: A Study of the Boundaries of Science (1999) and How the Laws of Physics Lie (1983). Her fields of specialization are philosophy of science, metaphysics, and epistemology of science.
