Franz Brentano (1838-1917), German philosopher and psychologist. His major works include Psychologie vom empirischen Standpunkt (1874), Vom Ursprung sittlicher Erkenntnis (1889), and Kategorienlehre (1911). His fields of specialization were philosophy of mind, psychology, ethics, and epistemology.
