Erasmus: Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466 – 1536) was a Dutch Christian humanist, Catholic theologian, educationalist, satirist and philosopher. He is best known for his role in the Northern Renaissance, and his critical edition of the New Testament (Novum Instrumentum omne) influenced both Protestant and Catholic scholars.
