| Alasdair Smith: Alasdair Smith is a Scottish economist specializing in international trade and European integration. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sussex (1998–2007) and held roles at the UK's Competition Commission and Competition and Markets Authority. His research includes trade modeling, EU enlargement, and income distribution. He is currently an Emeritus Professor at Sussex and a member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
