Walter Pitts (1923-1969), American logician and mathematician. His major works include The Organization of Mental Events and the Problem of Free Will (1959), A Logical Calculus of Ideas Immanent in Nervous Activity (1943, with Warren McCulloch), and Some Thoughts on the Theory of Mind (1965). His fields of specialization were computational neuroscience, mathematical logic, and philosophy of mind.
