John Lyons (1932-2020), British linguist and philosopher of language. His major works include Introduction to Theoretical Linguistics (1968), Semantics (1977), Language, Meaning and Context (1981), and Linguistic Semantics: An Introduction (1995). His fields of specialization were semantics, pragmatics, and the philosophy of language.
