Clarence Irving Lewis (1883-1964), American philosopher. His major works include A Survey of Symbolic Logic (1918), Mind and World Order: Outline of a Theory of Knowledge (1929), and Symbolic Logic (with Cooper H. Langford; 1932). His fields of specialization were logic, epistemology, ethics, and metaphysics.
