Epicurus on Pain - Dictionary of Arguments
Adorno XIII 225 Pain/Epicurus/Adorno: Pleasure and pain are not conceived as a simple thing, but they are something very complicated and are mutually related to each other. Pleasure is possible at all only by renouncing other pleasure and thereby suffering a pain. With this, Schopenhauer's theory is already preformed, that the whole human existence is only a fluctuation from one displeasure to the other, namely from the displeasure of deprivation, to the equally displeasing moments of oversaturation. >Schopenhauer._____________Explanation of symbols: Roman numerals indicate the source, arabic numerals indicate the page number.
