Martha Nussbaum on Politics - Dictionary of Arguments

Brocker I 908
Politics/Women/Nussbaum: one criterion for women in society is the strengthening of bargaining positions ("bargaining approach"): Political contexts and decision-making situations would have to be examined in each case to see to what extent abilities are guaranteed and promoted in them and independently acting subjects are produced.
>Capabilities/Nussbaum
Three principles for action(1):
1. "The importance of options", i.e. the possibility of breaking out of stressful constellations. Example Education and acquisition of property by women.
2. "The importance of perceived contribution", because there is often an underestimation of the contribution of women.
3. The importance of a sense of one's own worth. Self-confidence and self-perception of women and their projects are strengthened through exchange and role models.
