Gadamer I 274 Seinsfrage/question of being/Heidegger/Gadamer: Heidegger has given a completely correct phenomenological description when, in the presumed reading of that what is written there, revealed the pre-structure of understanding. He has also given an example of the fact that a task follows from it. In order to explicate the hermeneutical situation of the question of being in terms of intention, caution and anticipation, he critically tested his question directed at metaphysics at important turning points in the history of metaphysics. >Metaphysics. In doing so, he has basically only done what the historical-hermeneutic consciousness demands in any case. An understanding guided by methodical consciousness will have to endeavour not simply to carry out its anticipations, but to make it aware of itself, in order to control them and thereby, from the point of view of things, gain the right understanding. This is what Heidegger means when he calls for "securing" the scientific subject in the elaboration of intention, caution and anticipation from the things themselves. Cf. >E. Husserl. 1.
