Synonymy, philosophy: synonymy is the similarity of meaning of linguistic expressions. The conditions for actual equality of meaning are diverse and vary considerably, depending on the consideration of various aspects such as e.g. regional characteristics of the language use or different size of the subject area in question. See also intension, extension, identity, externalism, opacity, substitution, interpretation, translation, language usage.

Nelson Goodman on Synonymy - Dictionary of Arguments

I 39
Synonymy is a suspect term. In another study, I point out that no two terms have exactly the same meaning.
III 192
> Synonymy: that all scores for a performance are coextensive, does not imply that they are synonymous: two coextensive characters c1 and c2 (not pitch) are not synonymous, unless two parallel compositions of them are also coextensive. That if the substitution of c1 or c2 by the other composite character in a k1 k2 makes a character with an extension that differs from k1, then it can be said with good reason that c1 and c2 have a different meaning.
