Kunstreligion: Kunstreligion, or "art religion", is a German term used to describe a type of art that deals with religious themes in a non-traditional or even subversive way. It is often associated with the work of Romantic and Expressionist artists, such as William Blake, Caspar David Friedrich, and Vincent van Gogh. Hans-Georg Gadamer on Kunstreligion - Dictionary of Arguments

I 82
Kunstreligion/Art Religion/Symbols/Gadamer: For Goethe, "Everything that happens (...) is a symbol, and by perfectly representing itself, it points to the rest"(1).
>Symbol/Goethe
, >Symbols.
In philosophical aesthetics, this use of language probably became native above all by way of the Greek "Kunstreligion". This clearly shows Schelling's development of the philosophy of art from mythology. Karl Philipp Moritz, to whom Schelling refers there, had already rejected the "dissolution into mere allegory" for the mythological poems, but did not yet use the term symbol for this "language of fantasy". Schelling, on the other hand, writes: "Mythology in general and every poetry of it in particular is neither to be understood schematic nor allegorical, but symbolic.
>Symbol/Schelling, >F.W.J. Schelling.

For the requirement of the absolute representation of art is: Representation with complete indifference, so that the general is quite the particular, the particular is at the same time the whole general, so it does not mean it"(2).
>Symbols/Goethe, >Symbols/Kant.
