Robert Nozick on Pain - Dictionary of Arguments

II 339
Pain / Nozick: to have the same functional connection is not enough: e.g. a movable marble ball in the head of a martian might have the same functional connection as pain has for us, but the martian does not have to have pain. - N.B.: it is the same role for us, as with us, but not biologically for the robot.
