Historiography: Historiography is the study of the writing of history. It examines how historians have interpreted historical events and trends, and how their interpretations have changed over time. Historiography also explores the different methods and theories that historians use to study the past. See also History, Historism.

reason. Cicero already had this in mind when he called it vita memoriae(1). Its inherent right is based on the fact that human passions cannot be governed by the general rules of reason. Rather, convincing examples are needed, such as only history offers.
Bacon: That is why Bacon calls the historia that brings such examples another way of philosophizing (alia ratio philosophandi(2).
Gadamer: That is also formulated negatively enough. But we will see that in all these phrases the way of being of moral knowledge recognized by Aristotle is effective. The memory of this will become important for the appropriate self-understanding of the >humanities.
