Definition Meaning/Communicative Action/Habermas: within our theory of communicative action, the meaning of an elementary expression consists in the contribution it makes to the meaning of an acceptable speech action. And to understand what a speaker wants to say with such an act, the listener must know the conditions under which he can be accepted. (See Acceptability/Habermas). In this respect, the understanding of an elementary expression already goes beyond the minimal meaning of the expression "understanding". (See Understanding/Habermas).
