Metaphysics: is a theory that has the claim to ask questions and provide answers beyond our available knowledge. It is objected that even for asking questions, a knowledge of the meanings of the words used is required. This knowledge is not given when experiences or at least theories using these terms are not available. See also essentialism, metaphysical possibility.

Metaphysics/Democratic Theory/Kelsen: Kelsen vehemently rejects fictions and metaphysical argumentations because they are directed against the openness of the political process and want to shut it down. Metaphysics includes, for example, Kelsen's ideas of equality, which transport ideas of justice beyond formal equality.(1) Kelsen sees only a short distance between ideological ideas of justice and the demand for their dictatorial implementation.(2)
