Brocker I 240 Legitimacy/state/governance/New Testament/Barth: in the "opposite" of Jesus and Pilate, Barth sees firstly, fundamentally (ontologically) a "legitimate[...], relative[...] independence (1) (of the State), which comes from divine action and at the same time differs from it". The state powers ('exousiai') are to be thought in the imaginary space of the New Testament as certain "creative, but invisible, spiritual, heavenly powers", "which in and above the other creation have a certain independence and in this independence also a certain superior dignity, task and function; exert a certain real influence"(2). >Governance/Barth.
