Selection: Selection in evolution theory is the process by which organisms with beneficial traits are more likely to survive and reproduce, passing on those traits to their offspring. Selection/E. Sober: Difference:"Selection by" (stronger) - "Selection from" (weaker): can also be by-product of a selection "by".
For example, a funnel only lets through balls smaller than 1 cm. These are all green by chance. But the selection through the funnel went only by size, not by color.
