States: A. In physics, a state is a complete description of a physical system at a given time. This description includes all of the system's physical properties, such as its position, momentum, and energy. See also Systems, Energy, Motion, Process/Flux. - B. In philosophy, the discussion goes about mental states such as beliefs, desires, and sensations, as well as physical states such as brain activity.
