Georg Henrik von Wright on Cybernetics - Dictionary of Arguments

I 33
Cybernetics/Teleology/Wright, G. H.: How deep do cybernetic explanations penetrate the field of teleology? Do they go beyond the boundaries of biology to the field of human sciences (humanities?).
Question: does the cybernetics provide an explanation according to the Covering-Law-model?
Wright: in my opinion, it does not. "Cybernetics" in the social sciences differs from that in biology by far more than this equation suggests. It is the question of how far actions are explained with the Covering-Law-model.
