Hans-Georg Gadamer on Style - Dictionary of Arguments

I 43
Style/Gadamer: Taste as well as judgement are judgements of the individual with regard to a whole, whether it fits together with everything else, i.e. whether it is "fitting"(1). One must have "sense" for it - it is not demonstrable.
Note: Here the term "style" has its place. As a historical category, it derives from the fact that the decorative asserts itself against the "beautiful".(1)
>Beauty
, >Taste.
