Policy of Russia on War - Dictionary of Arguments
Krastev I 130 War/Policy of Russia/Krastev: After Russia's annexation of Crimea, Western commentators were obsessed with the Kremlin's 'hybrid war', the unprecedented mixture of military, informational and other resources intended to break the political will of the enemy. Analysts linked this new strategy back to Soviet 'playbooks'. Krastev: They were wrong. 'Hybrid war' was the result of reverse engineering. Russians were doing to the West what they were rightly or wrongly convinced the West was doing to them. Imitation: They had painstakingly reconstructed the way the West, in their opinion, orchestrated the 'colour revolutions' and come up with an instruction manual for organizing similar ones. Just as the West has supported liberal NGOs, Russians decided to finance far right and far left groups in the West. _____________Explanation of symbols: Roman numerals indicate the source, arabic numerals indicate the page number.
