| Individuation, philosophy: the picking out of an object by a determination by means of additional information which is not to be derived from a single statement which contains this object. For example, beliefs are individualized by content, not e.g. by the length of the character strings with which they are expressed. VI 215 Individuation: principium individuationis: initially setting as "reality-like", then as real - time order and space order each accomplish both feats. >Order, >Space, >Time, >Identification. VI 227 Def Reality-like: objects for which the distinction between real and unreal is useful, even before this distinction is made. VI 241 reality-like: within an overall system of the physical (or mental) world, the reality-like objects are real! The sought after limit of the real-like (where the question of reality is no longer useful) therefore coincides with the limit of the real. The border demarcation is arbitrary and vacillating.
