Achille Mbembe on Markets - Dictionary of Arguments

Brocker I 918
Markets/Competition/Africa/Postcolonialism/Mbembe/Herb: With a cursory glance at the conditions of relatively stable states such as Cameroon, Kenya, Gabon, Zimbabwe and Côte d'Ivoire, Mbembe shows that the fundamental legal deficits were compounded by serious economic problems. Even such states were not able to assert themselves on the new global markets, not to mention countries such as Zaire, Somalia, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Here, a frivolous redistribution policy had led to the ruin of the market, public finances and state order as such (Mbembe 2016(1), 112).
The neoliberal deregulation policies of the 1990s have increasingly exacerbated these crises.
>Colonialism
, >Postcolonialism.
Competition: If African states

were to face competition from the global market in the future, this would only be possible within the framework of a productivity regime that would lead to further inequality and social exclusion.
>Inequalities, >Injustice.
