Henry A. Murray on Situations - Dictionary of Arguments
Corr I 30 Situations/Murray/Funder: One of the earliest and most notable conceptions of situations comes from Henry Murray (1938)(1), whose theories illuminate the question of whether or not situations and persons are separable. Specifically, he was interested in the role that the environment played in a person’s ability to express his or her psychogenic needs and dubbed the forces exerted on behaviour by an environment its press.
