Brocker I 307 Def Humanist Feminism/Equality Feminism/Young: Humanist feminism regards gender differences as accidental. Being human is general and cannot be differentiated according to gender. Equality feminism thus marks a contrast to differential feminism, which assumes a fundamental essential difference between the two sexes. The opposite sex, "one of the most sensitive, thorough and theoretically well-founded descriptions of the disadvantage of women in patriarchy" (Young 1989, 42 (1) ), can be regarded as the authoritative text of this equality feminism. 1.
