Markets/Crouch: (cf. >Public Private Partnership/Crouch) For Crouch, the deficit of the market ((s) context: here the marketing of state services) is not primarily due to the fact that certain goods are only made available on the basis of supply and demand. The main characteristic of the market is the "commodification"(1) of goods, commercial trade, which substantially affects the quality of goods.
Brocker I 951
The provision of goods on the market goes hand in hand with access restrictions (costs), quantifying valuation (prices) and benefit-oriented selection (profits). According to Crouch, the imperfection of the markets ensures that only those public goods are made available that meet these criteria.
