Datafication/Terminology/Mayer-Schönberger: Google scanned books so that they could be searched, i.e. they were not photographed and saved as graphics but as indexable text. Google's Ngram Viewer can thus track the use of words through the centuries.

The Gutenberg project, active since 1971, puts texts online, but it treated words not as data that could be reused (datafication), but as texts to read.
Kindle books are also not photographed text - otherwise one could not change the letter size. The text is dataficated; it is not just digital.
