Verification/Ayer: often Translation: in any language, there are statements that are easier to verify than others - E.g. sentences about people more easily verified than s. about nations - general statements can perhaps be derived from theory - theory ultimately be verified by observation - but v. of singular statements does not depend on v. of the theory - a statement a is then checked if in the language there can be made no statement that is more directly verifiable - combinations are only verifiable, if the basic statements can be verified. >Complexity, >Justification, >Confirmation, >Verificationism, >Theories, >Methods.
