Phoneme/Quine: presupposes a concept of meaning equality - containment within the set of meaningful strings is not possible without a concept of the phoneme - but the list of phonemes is not possible without synonymy - the same length and (almost) identical sounding sequences can be regarded as the same or as different - Density: which acoustic differences are to count as relevant? - Problem: speech acts must be grouped together as bundles of certain density - all speech acts belong to the class K of sound sequences - grammar: based on two concepts: "phoneme" and "significant".
>Grammar/Quine, >Meaning/Quine.
