Fregean sense, philosophy: the term "Fregean sense" – i.e. what the influential author Gottlob Frege called "sense" (German "Sinn") – is today known as the concept of “meaning” (German “Bedeutung”). On the other hand, what Frege called "meaning" (German "Bedeutung" in the sense of "to point to something") is today called the object or reference.
